Hi, I am Princess Mia. I am the princess of the Kingdom Flare and the heir to the throne. I am 15 years old and have one younger sister, Olivia, who is 9. I have two best friends, Ella and Charlie, also 15 years old. Ella is kind and warm-hearted. She has always had a passion for animals. Charlie is funny and silly. He always makes people laugh, even if they are sad. My mother is the Queen, and my father is the King, obviously. My mother's name is Queen Poppy, and she carries the royal blood. My father's name is King Alexander.
“Mother, don't forget that I’m going over to Charlie's house! I don't want to be late!” I call out to mum.
“Ok, I’m coming, Mia!” Mother calls back to me.
I love getting out of the castle and going somewhere different. My mother and I travel in the royal carriage, and royal Clydesdales pull the wagon.
“Mother, is it hard work being Queen?” I ask curiously.
“Yes,” Mother replies in a soft voice.
“Do you think I would be a good Queen?” I ask even more curiously.
“Yes, I do,” Mother says.
Finally, we arrive at Charlie's house. Charlie has a beautiful brick home, which is old and has a few cracks, but that is what makes Charlie's home so unique. I am greeted by Charlie’s mum, who invites me inside and tells me that Charlie is in his room. I walk into Charlie's room and see him dancing to rock music. I start to giggle. Then, he notices me, and he turns off the music and starts to blush with embarrassment.
“Looks like you like dancing,” I giggle.
“Whatever!” Charlie muffles. “Anyway, Mia, how is being a princess going?” Charlie says in a squeaky voice. I roll my eyes.
“Stop being silly,” I say.
Charlie starts to giggle.
“You're such a goof,” I say, sighing. “Anyway, how has your cafe job been?” I ask.
“Good,” Charlie says. “But hard work,” he adds. Can we please go to your castle? It's so much cooler,” Charlie begs.
“Fine. I will call Mother to see if she will let us,” I say.
“YES!” Charlie says excitedly.
I called my mother to see if it was okay for Charlie to visit. In the meantime, Charlie asked his parents if he could come over. I also asked Ella if she wanted to join us. Our parents all agreed.
As Charlie and I arrive at the castle, Ella is already waiting for us in my bedroom.
“Can we go outside, please?” Ella asks.
“Sure!” I say.
“Thank you, Mia!” says Ella happily.
“You're welcome,” I say.
We go outside. The wind is soft, and the birds are chirping. Suddenly, Ella looks weirdly at the big wall covered in vines and leaves.
“Ella, what's wrong?” I ask. Ella hesitates for a moment. Charlie and I look at each other with weird looks.
Ella takes a deep breath in and out. “Look at this,” Ella says softly.
Charlie and I walk over to where Ella is. I could not believe my eyes. Charlie could not believe his eyes either. We were looking at a hidden brown door in the wall covered with leaves and vines. “Why did Mother not tell me about this?” I say softly but in surprise.
“I-I don’t know,” says Charlie uncertainly.
“It needs a key,” I say. We all look at the lock.
“Check around the wall,” says Ella. We all start searching for the key.
Charlie is looking at a pot of soil hidden under the vines. “I found the key!” yelled Charlie, waving it in the air.
“Shhhhhhh,” Ella and I replied unhappily to Charlie. We said shhhhhh because we didn’t want anyone to hear.
“Oops,” Charlie whispers.
“What did you find?” Olivia yells from her bedroom window, which is out of sight—but she has good ears!
“Nothing!” I yell back. Olivia is so nosey. Ella, Charlie, and I all sigh with relief at the same time.
“Did you actually find the key?” says Ella excitedly.
“Yep,” says Charlie proudly. “Here it is,” he adds. We all look at it. It is gold and shiny.
“I won't tell anyone about this door or key,” I say.
“We won’t tell anyone either,” Ella and Charlie agree.
“I can't believe I found it. I was looking over there…” Charlie begins to ramble.
“Just put it in the lock!” Ella and I say, cutting him off impatiently.
“Ok, ok,” says Charlie, rolling his eyes.
He puts the key in and turns the lock. It unlocks with a clunk. Charlie pushes the door. It opens slowly with a creaking noise. We look in amazement. Through the gate, we see a garden, and it is the most beautiful garden. It looks as if someone has been looking after it. It is almost like it is from another world. Maybe it is.
